Can't sleep? It may be your mattress.

Updated: Nov 24, 2024

Do you find yourself tossing and turning at night, unable to get a good night's sleep no matter what you try? The culprit behind your sleeplessness might be right under your nose - or rather, right under your back: your mattress.

Many of us underestimate the impact that our mattress can have on our quality of sleep. An old, worn-out mattress can lead to a host of sleep-related issues, from back pain to insomnia. Here are a few ways your mattress might be sabotaging your sleep, and what you can do about it:

1. Lack of Support

If your mattress is old and sagging, it might not be providing your body with the support it needs. This can lead to poor sleeping posture, back pain, and restless nights. Consider investing in a mattress that offers better support, such as a memory foam or hybrid mattress.

2. Allergens and Dust Mites

Over time, mattresses can accumulate dust mites, allergens, and other unpleasant particles that can trigger allergies and disrupt your sleep. Make sure to regularly vacuum and clean your mattress, and consider using a mattress protector to keep allergens at bay.

3. Temperature Regulation

If your mattress retains heat or doesn't breathe well, it can make you feel uncomfortable and sweaty during the night, leading to disrupted sleep. Look for a mattress with cooling properties or consider using breathable bedding to help regulate your body temperature.

4. Age of the Mattress

On average, a mattress should be replaced every 7-10 years. If you've been using the same mattress for longer than that, it might be time for an upgrade. A new mattress can make a world of difference in your sleep quality and overall well-being.

5. LACK OF COMFORT

Most people sharing a bed struggle to find a comfort that is right for them. Generally, the comfort of a mattress is a compromise on what is "good enough" or "tolerable" for the couple, when each have their own needs. This results in two people getting sub-optimal sleep.

With a Halstead mattress, you are able to break the cycle of sleeplessness due to the mattress. Both individuals can get the comfort they need, the support for their body, and can keep their mattress clean and comfortable over time.
